Coverage details

Covers US-50 over Echo Summit and SR-88 / SR-89 via Luther Pass — some nearby roads aren't monitored. See what's included.

This status covers two known South Lake Tahoe access paths: US-50 from the Sacramento / El Dorado county line over Echo Summit to the California–Nevada state line, and SR-88 from the San Joaquin / Amador county line through Carson Pass to Picketts Junction, then SR-89 through Luther Pass to the US-50 junction at Meyers.

The US-50 chain feed has no checkpoint between Meyers and Stateline; that covered stretch rests on lane and Caltrans postmile evidence. Luther Pass chain reporting comes from a single checkpoint, and District 3 carries no Alpine County lane-closure reporting. SR-89 through Emerald Bay is Phase 2 and isn't covered. US-50 east of Stateline and NV-207 / Kingsbury Grade aren't monitored; verify those Nevada approaches separately.

Conditions can change quickly in the mountains. This page never replaces chain requirements, closures, or official Caltrans guidance. This boundary supports no claim about Emerald Bay, US-50 east of Stateline, NV-207 / Kingsbury Grade, or unmonitored roads beyond the modeled approaches. Neither surface makes a safe-to-drive or all-clear claim.
